In the past decade we have seen many reports of the health risks of smoking tobacco. Although smoking cannabis is not as harmful as smoking tobacco, it still constitutes a health risk. But this way of consuming, through high-temperature combustion is still used by patients. With the regulation being more flexible and the appearance of many different products, we are now able to offer patients and users healthier and more friendly forms of consumption. This article will make a list of some of the different cannabis products available out there.

Cannabis oil

Cannabis oil is the extraction of one or several cannabinoids or synthetic cannabinoids mixed with another carrier such as olive oil, canola oil, coconut oil and so on. Cannabis oil can be consumed through the oral cavity, preferably under the tongue or swallowing. Some cannabis oils can also be vaporized and consumed through the lungs. In contrast to smoking or vaping the cannabis inflorescences, cannabis oils will help in reaching better reproducibility levels and dosage accuracy.

Suppositories / Cannabis capsules

Cannabis suppositories are made from the extract of the plant cannabinoids or synthetic cannabinoids dissolved in a fatty mass that stays in a solid state at room temperature. The use of suppositories can be rectal or vaginal and allows relatively high biological availability. In this case also, it is possible to reach a better reproducibility levels and accuracy in dosage than other means of consumption.

Cannabis ointments and creams

Creams, gels, ointments that are dissolved in a fatty state or suspended in a liquid state that can be applied locally on the skin and consequently the cannabinoids are absorbed through the skin into the bloodstream. Usually with this method biological availability will remain low and it is difficult to achieve high dosage accuracy.

Cannabis edible products

There are many products that are consumed by simply eating the cannabis compounds. From cookies and pastries, butter, sweets, tea, juices, alcoholic drinks, sauces and many others. Food products often contain additional flavors, food coloring, preservatives, and so on. In addition, it is difficult to reach high reproducibility levels and dosage accuracy with edibles.

Cannabis drinking products

There are many cannabis products that are consumed through drinking. There are cannabis tea bags, coffee blends, cannabis beverages fortified with THC and / or CBD (THC infused, CBD infused) and even mineral water fortified with CBD. Like cannabis products used for eating, drinks also contain additional flavors, food coloring, preservatives, and so on and generally this method doesn’t allow a good reproducibility levels and dose accuracy.

Cannabis tablets and capsules

Cannabis tablets, capsules and soft-gel that are consumed in swallowing can be produced. In this way we will gain better control over the quality and quality. Precise dosage levels and active ingredients are very high. There are various types of cannabis tablets: for sublingual use, for example swallowing and so on.

Wax, Crumble or Shatter concentrates

Cannabis concentrates are extraction of high concentrations of cannabinoids in semi-solid form. It is consumed by evaporating / burning the extract using a rig and a burner while inhaling the steam generated. Since these products are high concentrations of one or several cannabis compounds, it allows the consumption of relatively small amounts with immediate and strong health benefits, which sometimes will be accompanied by a psychoactive effect.

Cannabis Vaping

Using heat convection technology (e.g. a desktop vaporizer), which heat the cannabis product to a temperature where the desired active ingredients are converted to a gas and then inhaled through the lungs. This method of consumption is considered to be much healthier than smoking and has minor side effects. In addition, as opposed to the other forms of consumption, vaping effects are immediate, since the absorption is made through the lungs directly into the bloodstream.
